If you don’t know Trixie Minx yet, that’s about to change.
New Orleans-based burlesque icon, cultural powerhouse and certified master of the slow reveal, Trixie is the official host of Bliss Cruise’s Mardi Gras Extravaganza – and she sat down with us to talk New Orleans, Mardi Gras, what really goes on behind-the-scenes and why February 2028 might just be the most fun you’ve ever had with your clothes on… and off.
For anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure yet – who is Trixie Minx, in your own words?
Professionally, I’m a New Orleans Burlesque Queen & the Queen of Cheese. Personally, I’m a genuine goofy girlie who is anti-pants, pro-snacks, & sincerely loves New Orleans and sharing that joy with others.
You’ve built your career in New Orleans – a city that practically invented the art of indulgence. How has living there shaped who you are as a performer and as a person?
A little off topic but this is what I call a “New Orleans magic moment” & if you’re lucky you will have one too. New Orleans is unique in that it’s not just a city that you visit but a place that you experience. The food, music, and celebration are all parts of the culture BUT the way in which people interact is what truly makes it all magic. You can’t plan it but you will definitely recognize when that one random conversation turns into a catalyst for something much larger. Honestly that’s the way I found burlesque.
You’ve performed on Bliss Cruises before. What is it about the Bliss community that keeps bringing you back?
It’s obvious the moment you are at a Bliss event. The staff is always so nice & genuine. I truly believe they approach every event with the intent on how can they make this the best guest experience and then even better on the next one.
The lifestyle community and the burlesque world have a lot of overlap – confidence, body positivity, playful exploration. How do you see those two worlds connecting?
I think there are a lot of parallels that you can draw between both. I believe burlesque is accessible & customizable for anyone that wants to do it & think that the lifestyle community operates in the same way.
You’ve been named as a host of Mardi Gras Extravaganza – a cruise AND a hotel takeover in your own city. When you first heard the concept, what was your reaction?
H*ly SH*T this is gonna be AWESOME!!!
For couples who have never experienced Mardi Gras in New Orleans – what do they absolutely need to know about what that city feels like during that week?
It’s a marathon not a sprint. The city is in celebration mode 24/7 that week so approach it as choose your own adventure rather than I got to do it all. And if there is something you missed that you really wanna do, you can always come back the following year 😉
What is the one thing you want every couple walking into Mardi Gras Extravaganza to feel from the moment they arrive?
Excitement to be a part of something special. Mardi Gras isn’t something you observe it’s something that you experience by being an active participant in it.
If someone is unsure about New Orleans or Mardi Gras, what makes this experience unique for first timers?
This particular experience literally gives you an insiders guide on how to best navigate & enjoy what is arguable one of the best parties in the world.
Describe your perfect night in New Orleans during Mardi Gras in three words.
Costume, Parade, Party
Last question – What are you personally most excited to bring to Mardi Gras Extravaganza as the official host
Authentic-i-titty! I really live here, I really love it, and I really want you guys to experience what I consider real New Orleans magic. Because once you do it truly is a life changing experience.
